The hotel will be ready to welcome guests from 3:45pm and direct you to the welcome drinks where the celebrations will begin! The wedding ceremony itself is a small affair earlier in the day, so when you arrive we'll be hitched already. The reception is an informal affair with drinks, food, and music all intermingled throughout the afternoon and evening. We will not be having a formal sit down meal, speeches, or a receiving line - it's simply a day for us to all spend together enjoying life!
4pm to 5pm: Welcome Drinks
5pm to midnight: Reception (with plenty of seating ladies!)
A buffet will be served throughout the evening with late night snacks thrown in to keep us all going. We will post the menu here when we’ve finalised it so keep an eye out, we will be in touch to get any dietary requirements.
Midnight until last orders at 1am: Cheeky nightcap at the Booking Office (located a short walk away to another part of the hotel).
We have plenty of cutlery, crockery, kettles, and toasters between us, so there is nothing we really need - so we do not have a gift registry.
However, we get that you might want to get us a gift, so we would love anything that is more of an experience that involves you and us spending time together.
Having said all that, if there’s something you really have in mind for us, go wild :)
If travelling by car, the hotel is on the A40 and most easily accessed via M40, M4 routes but the M1 is only a little bit further.
Unfortunately the hotel itself does not offer parking due to its central London location, however public parking is available nearby and can be booked online at the St Pancras International Car Park here
The hotel sits on top of the St.Pancras International station, is next to Kings Cross Station with Euston very close by.
Tube: Northern, Piccadilly, Hammersmith and City, Circle, Metropolitan
Mainline: Eurostar, East Midlands Railway, Southeastern, ThamesLink and many more from Kings Cross and Euston.
There are plenty of places to stay nearby, including the hotel itself:
Premier Inn: St Pancras and Euston
Travel Lodge: Royal Scot
The hotel will be providing a cloakroom for exclusive use by our guests, so any coats or bags can be stashed there.
We have a professional photographer to capture the day, so don't feel you have to capture everything yourself! We ask that you refrain from taking pictures of us during the welcome drinks so we can focus on meeting and greeting everyone, and while you're welcome to take pictures at any other part of the day, please do not post any photos of us on social media - posting your own selfies is fine though.
We love all sorts of music and from many eras, from Motown to Queen to 80’s pop and 90's/00’s Brit pop with the odd show tune thrown in, we can often be found on a Friday night dancing around the kitchen whilst cooking dinner!
Add your faves (any genre and era!) to our very own eras set list below and we will do our best to play them on the night!
St. Pancras International station is "our" haunt. Where the Harpenden train comes into London and a stone's throw away from Angel, we have spent many an evening together over the years in the bars and restaurants of the station and hotel, watching the world go by. For us it is the perfect place to tie the knot.
The hotel has a rich history, first opening its doors in 1873, it was once one of the most expensive hotels in London. It closed its doors after WW1, became the property of British Rail, and almost suffered demolition throughout that period but was saved by Sir John Betjeman in 1967 when the building was granted Grade 1 listed status. It was not until 2011, 138 years later, that the site was restored back to the iconic hotel it is today. Thanks Sir John!
The Grand Staircase is one of the most notable of the hotel’s features, and continued to be used as a backdrop for films and music videos even when the hotel shut its doors, with most famous being the Spice Girls dancing on them in their 1996 hit, Wannabe. Girls - the stairs are yours if you fancy recreating it!
The location of our reception, The Ladies Smoking Room, was the first room in Europe where women were allowed to smoke in public - apparently while listening to opera. Certainly a room worth taking your hat off to.
The Booking Office is of our favourite bars in London, it used to be the old train station's ticket hall and is now the main hotel bar. You can still spot some of the old ticket hall features but definitely does not feel like your typical train station drinking hole. Perfect for a pre-and post wedding drink!
Surrounding areas
There are plenty of places to enjoy before and after the wedding. The hotel itself has 3 bars, and the Searcys Champagne Bar on the station concourse, The Betjeman Arms and German Gymnasium (an actual gym for Germans built in 1860's) are two other favourites. The station and the nearby Granary Square has plenty of lunch options too. If you like a bit of art as you are passing by, be sure to pop your head out onto the concourse just outside the booking office to see the Tracy Emin installation and both the The Meeting Place and Sir John Betjeman sculptures.
